Description

A delicious and easy Berry Croissant Bake that combines flaky croissants with fresh berries and a creamy custard mixture, baked to golden perfection. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a cozy dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Croissants and Berries

  • 4 large croissants, broken into small pieces (use baked croissants, not dough)
  • 1 cup sliced strawberries
  • ½ cup blueberries
  • ½ cup raspberries

Custard Mixture

  • 1 block (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly spray a 9 x 9-inch baking dish with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Arrange Croissants and Berries: Spread the broken croissant pieces evenly across the bottom of the prepared dish. Evenly distribute all the fresh strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries over the croissants.
  3. Make Custard Mixture: Using an electric mixer, beat the softened cream cheese until fluffy and smooth. Gradually add the granulated sugar, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract, continuing to mix until everything is well combined and smooth.
  4. Assemble Bake: Pour the creamy custard mixture evenly over the croissants and berries in the baking dish, ensuring all pieces are coated.
  5. Chill Before Baking: Cover the dish with plastic wrap or foil and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes, or up to 14 hours to allow the custard to soak into the croissants thoroughly.
  6. Bake: Remove the cover and bake the dish in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
  7. Serve: Serve the berry croissant bake warm. Optionally dust with powdered sugar or drizzle syrup for extra sweetness. Enjoy your delicious treat!

Notes

  • Use baked croissants rather than raw dough for best results.
  • For a richer flavor, whole milk or half-and-half can be substituted for the milk.
  • The berry mix can be customized with your favorite fresh or frozen berries.
  • Chilling before baking helps the custard soak in, enhancing flavor and texture.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated and enjoyed cold or reheated gently.
