Description
These Oven Baked Potato Slices are crispy, golden, and flavorful, combining the earthiness of yellow potatoes with a perfect blend of garlic, onion, and Parmesan cheese. This easy recipe makes a delicious side dish that requires minimal prep and bakes to perfection in just 35 minutes.
Ingredients
Scale
Potatoes and Seasoning
- 4 medium yellow potatoes (scrubbed, not peeled)
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon onion powder
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon dried parsley
- ½ teaspoon salt (or to taste)
Cheese
- 4 tablespoons shredded Parmesan cheese (divided)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 450℉ and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
- Slice and season potatoes: Using a mandoline or a sharp knife, slice the potatoes into ¼-inch thick slices. In a large bowl, toss the potato slices with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, dried parsley, salt, and 2 tablespoons of the shredded Parmesan cheese until evenly coated.
- Bake the potatoes: Arrange the seasoned potato slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden and crispy, flipping the slices halfway through cooking at about the 10-minute mark to ensure even browning.
- Add remaining cheese and finish baking: Once the potatoes are browned, sprinkle the remaining 2 tablespoons of Parmesan cheese over the top. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 3 minutes or until the cheese bubbles and develops a golden brown color. Remove from oven and serve warm.
Notes
- Using a mandoline helps ensure uniform thickness for even cooking.
- For extra crispiness, soak potato slices in cold water for 30 minutes before seasoning, then pat dry.
- You can substitute Parmesan cheese with Pecorino Romano for a sharper flavor.
- Adjust seasoning amounts to taste, especially salt and pepper.
- These slices are best enjoyed fresh but can be reheated in the oven to retain crispness.
