Description

Chicken Alfredo Garlic Bread Bowls combine tender, seasoned chicken and creamy Alfredo pasta served inside crispy, toasted bread bowls. This comforting dish is perfect for a flavorful family dinner or entertaining guests, offering a delicious blend of garlicky, cheesy goodness with a satisfying crunch.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Chicken Alfredo:

  • 3 chicken breasts, cut into cubes
  • 1 pound pasta (penne, fettuccine, or your choice)
  • 1 jar Alfredo sauce (about 15 oz)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Bread Bowls and Topping:

  • 6 kaiser rolls (or more if needed)
  • 1 stick (½ cup) unsalted butter, melted
  • 3-4 teaspoons garlic and herb seasoning
  • ½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese

For Garnish (Optional):

  • Fresh parsley
  • Red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Cook the chicken: Season the chicken cubes with garlic and herb seasoning, salt, and pepper. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium-high heat and cook the chicken for 6-8 minutes until golden and cooked through.
  2. Cook the pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta and set aside.
  3. Prepare the bread bowls: Slice the tops off the kaiser rolls and hollow out the centers to create bowl shapes, being careful to leave enough bread to hold the filling.
  4. Make garlic butter: Combine the melted butter with garlic and herb seasoning. Brush the inside and edges of the bread bowls with this garlic butter mixture to add flavor and help achieve a crispy texture.
  5. Bake the bread bowls: Place the prepared bread bowls on a baking sheet and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 4-5 minutes until lightly toasted.
  6. Combine pasta and sauce: In the pan with the cooked chicken, add the cooked pasta and Alfredo sauce. Stir well to combine, ensuring all the pasta is fully coated with the creamy sauce.
  7. Assemble the bowls: Carefully fill each bread bowl with the chicken Alfredo mixture, then sprinkle shredded Parmesan cheese evenly on top.
  8. Bake again: Return the filled bread bowls to the oven and bake for an additional 4-5 minutes until the cheese has melted and the edges of the bread are crispy.
  9. Serve and enjoy: Garnish with fresh parsley and red pepper flakes if desired. Serve the bread bowls hot for a delicious and comforting meal.

Notes

  • Use any pasta shape you prefer; penne or fettuccine work best.
  • If kaiser rolls are unavailable, use any sturdy round bread rolls that can hold fillings.
  • For a lighter version, use a low-fat Alfredo sauce or substitute half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
  • Make sure to not overfill the bread bowls to avoid sogginess.
  • The garlic and herb seasoning can be adjusted based on your taste preference.
