Description

A delicious and comforting Berry Croissant Bake that combines flaky croissants with fresh berries and a creamy custard mixture. This easy-to-make breakfast casserole is perfect for weekend brunches and can be prepared ahead of time for a stress-free morning.

Ingredients

Scale

Croissants and Berries

  • 4 large croissants, broken into small pieces (already baked croissants, not dough)
  • 1 cup sliced strawberries
  • ½ cup blueberries
  • ½ cup raspberries

Custard Mixture

  • 1 block (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray a 9 x 9-inch baking dish with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Arrange Croissants and Berries: Spread the broken croissant pieces evenly in the prepared baking dish. Then distribute all the sliced strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries evenly over the croissants.
  3. Prepare the Custard Mixture: Using an electric mixer, beat the softened cream cheese until fluffy. Gradually add the granulated sugar, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Continue mixing until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  4. Combine and Refrigerate: Pour the cream cheese custard mixture evenly over the croissants and berries in the baking dish. Cover the dish with a lid or plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes or up to 14 hours to allow the custard to soak into the croissants.
  5. Bake: Remove the cover and bake in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.
  6. Serve: Serve warm, optionally dusted with powdered sugar or drizzled with syrup for extra sweetness. Enjoy your comforting berry croissant bake!

Notes

  • Use pre-baked croissants for the best texture—raw croissant dough will not produce the same result.
  • You can prepare this dish the night before and let it soak in the fridge overnight for deeper flavor.
  • Feel free to substitute or add your favorite berries or fruits.
  • Make sure the cream cheese is softened to ensure a smooth custard mixture.
  • For extra indulgence, serve with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
